Damp Proofing Manchester

Damp proofing is a method use to prevent water entering the building. It is water proofing a masonry surface to retard capillary action and water leaks. A black tar like material is applied to the exterior of the wall to minimize the moisture penetration into the wall. Damp proofing Manchester is the treatment of masonry to retard the absorption of water or water vapor, either by applying suitable coating or membrane to the effected surfaces or by use of suitable admixture or treated cement.
Damp proofing Manchester arises because of the rising damp. Rising damp in buildings occurs when water from the ground rises up through the bricks and mortar of a building by a process known as capilliarity. The water along with the salts attracts water. The salt attracts the moisture from the surrounding air in to the walls, keeping the walls damp. This damp stays in the walls of a home and mold and fungus will start to grow and can cause health issues. It can also cause structural damage in the damp walls.
